The Farewell Drifters
Good Autumn,
Another fantastic weekend here in Cleveland, Ohio.
We went to the Cedar Valley Settlers Celebration and Music Festival and what a great time we had.
There was great music and I had a chance to talk with Joshua Britt of The Farewell Drifters. The interview follows.
These guys are real up and comers with a great attitude and loads of talent. They played pretty much all their own music. That is to say that they wrote it themselves, and it seems that Joshua wrote most of what they played on Sunday.
They just came off a big show in Nashville where they played at 8PM and then drove all night to get herefor their 2:30PM gig. Now that's gotta be about an 8 hour drive, so if they slept at all it couldn't have been for long.
They seemed none the worse for wear however, and delivered a crowd pleasing performance with flawless instrumentals and great tight harmonies.
Give these guys a listen and remember you heard about them here when they are snatching up all kinds of awards.
When you hear them, remember that they have only been together about three years, and four of them are under 25 years old!
The band consists of Joshua Britt on mandolin and vocals, Clayton Britt on lead guitar and vocals, Zach Bevill
on lead vocals and guitar, Trevor Brandt on banjo, and Dr. Dean Marold on bass.
Check out their web site at www.farewelldrifters.com . Drop them a line and tell them Bluegrassrom sent you
and don't forget to buy their CD Sweet Summer Breeze.
I got more on this festival, so check back.
Happy Fall,
